About Jars

About the home of our chutneys, sauces & preserves.

An Introduction to Jars

We create a range of short run products made from the freshest ingredients and pride ourselves on quality. We believe in sourcing the fresh ingredients for all of our products and when possible the majority of our ingredients have either been grown ourselves or foraged from the local area.

Our preserves and sauces are produced in small batches using ingredients sourced from organic suppliers to ensure taste, quality and consistency. This helps maintain our sustainable approach minimalizing the carbon footprint of our products.

Due to small batches of jams and chutney’s when the ingredients are readily available. This means that we do not have continual lines of stock but instead offer different lines throughout the year as and when we sell out.

All our products are created from fresh ingredients. Try our locally produced preserves or give as a gift.

Natural Ingredients

Growing

A large variety of vegetables and fruit our grown ourselves and our intention is to stick to this principle as we grow. We believe that fruit and vegetables should be grown naturally using no pesticides or insecticides. Although we do not possess organic status our seeds are sourced from organic and bio-dynamic growers. This means that we are able to collect the seeds to regrow the same varieties year after year, many of which are heirloom varieties which have been grown for years but have gone out of favour more recently with the creation of many F1 varieties.

Harvesting

Our range of jams are made from local fruit that grows on hedgerows, in particular fruit near our apiary in Glatton. It is our belief that all this natural free harvest needs to be used and that it makes no sense letting the fruit rot to the ground. We also believe that you need to use the finest and freshest ingredients in order to capture the flavours to produce high quality tasty preserves. Therefore to ensure this happens we aim to pick and produce the preserves in the same day. This holds in the flavour of the fruit or vegetable and nutritional content of the item.
