Local Soft Set Honey
Our honey is as natural as it gets. Frames filled with golden raw honey are harvested straight from the hives then the thin layer of beeswax holding the honey in are removed using a knife. The frames with the honey now free flowing are then placed within a honey extractor, they are spun and the honey is forced out onto the side of the extractor known as centrifugal force. After a period of time the honey settles to the bottom of the extractor. The honey is then filtered to remove any debris such as beeswax whilst ensuring the natural grains of pollen remain.
To create soft set honey we take honey which is liable to set rapidly such as after flowering of oil seed rape. To this we add our own soft set honey as a starter. Instead of forming crystalised honey a smooth textured honey is formed. We have developed our own soft set honey starter creating a smooth texture without losing its unique floral flavours. Soft set honey is ideal for spreading on toast or put it in your porridge. You can choose between 1lb, 8oz and 2oz jars.
